The mission of International Institute of Medical Massage (IIMM) is to transform massage therapists and practitioners into an elite caliber of successful medical massage professionals.
Alla Mia McCammon founded International Institute of Medical Massage (IIMM), an educational program that teach massage therapists and practitioners skills necessary to become a Medical Massage Therapist. Medical Massage is a comprehensive set of procedures that uses the modalities of Swedish, Namikoshi (Anatomical) Shiatsu and Bio-Integration (Deep Tissue).
The Medical Massage Therapist assesses tissues surrounding the afflicted anatomical structures, checks for other areas associated with the nerve lines and attached muscles and tendons, and then applies the procedure necessary to make a change in the tissue back to its normal structure. The client should be able to feel a difference in the pain level after the first massage.
While there are many workshops to choose from, IIMM is unique in its philosophy and approach to education. We believe that an innovative curriculum and peaceful environment are essential in producing excellent professionals. This is the philosophy at IIMM. Our students, faculty and staff comprise a comforting community that provides each person with an enriching experience, enhancing their personal lives as well as their careers.
To assist the massage therapists and practitioners to be able to incorporate training in their busy schedule, the program has been broken down into three consecutive workshops to be completed within a year. This is also beneficial towards retention of the numerous topics that are taught in a small amount of time.
There is a beginning, intermediate and advanced level of workshops. You must take the beginning level first as the lessons provide you with the core knowledge that you need for the applications of procedures to help with the ailments and conditions taught. Although it is recommended that students take all three workshops in a year, program length is entirely at the student’s discretion. A student may choose to take one workshop per month or one workshop per year. When all three workshops are completed and homework handed in, the student recieves a beautiful diploma, certifying completion of the medical Massage Therapist Program. Please see the page on Workshops for more information on this.
